Finally went with the PC-8!  Ordered it directly from EasternBeaver.

I looked at the Centec and Fuzeblock Fz-1.  I didn’t really consider the Centec after review, but the Fz-1 was a close runner-up.  I only skipped on it because the board mounted relay.

I opted for the 50 Amp PC-8.  Even with only 20 allocated, always better to have and not need, etc.

The PC-8 mounted cleanly in the tool tray.  Now, blogging about it, I wonder if it could be strapped to the bottom of the tool tray.  That research will have to wait.

I’ve got the PIAA lights and two USB ports running of the PC-8 at present.

Tires

After too many hours of research, finally decided on the Michelin Anakee IIs.  Ordered them and scheduled to have them mounted and such with the 12K service.

Turns out, these are on back order.  Michelin has an odd approach to inventory.

Went with the Metzeler Tourances, front and back.  These were my second choice anyway, can’t be too dissatisfied.

Count me shocked at how odd these things felt.  I stopped before I left the parking lot to make sure one wasn’t flat!

I know, new tires are slick.  These things?  Before I got home I was wondering if I could get a refund or exchange.  Not something I wanted to ride for the next couple thousand miles.

They started to feel better and now, with about 300 miles on them, they’ll do.  I can’t say anything for off-road or even rain yet, but dry, they’re holding on much better.

Next time, I’ll order the Anakees around January?  Maybe I’ll stick with the Tourances.

R 1200 GS

The current beast is a BMW R 1200 GS, my return to the boxer. I had a short tour on a K, the K 1200 R, knowing I’d eventually come back to the boxer.

I haven’t been an Adventure Rider to this point, just a rider.  We’ll see how it goes.  Great fun either way, I’m pretty pleased.
